FAQs
How do you pronounce your name?
Uh-LAY-zuh-BEL! Think long “a” sound.
Why the name “Alaizabel Cray”?
The short answer: It’s a stage name, and yes, I am indeed a fan of the book “The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray” by Chris Wooding!
The longer answer: in 2016, I had been cosplaying for two years at that point. I wanted to make a fan page to showcase all of my costumes and adventures at conventions in the Denver Area. I came up with the name Alaizabel Cray Cosplay for my fan page, after the heroine of one of my favorite books I read as a teenager.
In 2020, with conventions temporarily a thing of the past thanks to the covid pandemic, I had time to get really honest about the things I loved. Naturally, one of those things is performing. I took several acting and modeling classes with Southwest Model and Talent, and ultimately signed with their in-house talent agency in September of 2020.
When I signed with the agency, I asked myself if a casting director would be more likely to remember me if they saw my resume and headshot come through with my legal name, or if they would be more likely to remember a stage name. Since my peers in the cosplay scene had known me as Alaizabel Cray, I began submitting for everything under that name.
